Willoughby Physiotherapy and Chiropractic is interested in you. We want to know your story, and understand how pain and injury is interfering with your life. We then work with you to develop a personalised plan to get you back doing the things you love. We provide a relaxed and friendly atmosphere so you will feel comfortable every step of the way.
A diagnosis is the first step in getting you back doing the things you love. We will seek to find out two things:
What structure is causing your pain or lack of movement.
Why it has happened.
Sometimes pain follows an injury and the mechanism of onset is quite clear. Other times a problem may develop over time, or you may even just wake up with it. We take the time to understand all the factors contributing to your pain and injury. This could include joint stiffness, muscle weakness, lack of muscle control or balance, your working from home set up, activities you do regularly, sports or exercise you do regularly, even your stress levels and sleep.
We want you to understand what is causing the pain and discomfort you are feeling, and why it has happened. Only when you have this knowledge, can you feel confident that the treatment options offered are the best course of action, and be empowered to do the things required to get better and stop the problem from coming back. We pride ourselves on explaining things in a way that is easy to grasp and gives you the whole picture. We use modern 3D software to show you images of what we are talking about, making it much easier to understand.
Our treatment plans are personalised, and designed to get you doing the things you love as quickly as possible. Our treatment usually falls into three categories:
Advice and Education: we can explain what is causing your pain or symptoms, how long it is likely to take to improve, and let you know what you should and shouldn't do to speed up the process.
Exercise Prescription: we can prescribe simple exercises that require no or minimal equipment to help improve your pain or symptoms. These may be strength, stretching or functional exercises.
Manual therapy: "hands on" therapy. We can use mobilisation, manipulation and soft tissue releases to help ease pain and stiffness quickly.
We know you come to see us because pain, injury or lack of mobility are holding you back from living the way you want. So our treatment is all about your goals. This could range from wanting to relieve some pain today so you can work effectively, through to wanting to get your body ready for running a marathon in a years time, or anything in between. We will get to understand what you want to do, let you know a realistic time frame, and design a plan to get you there
